
Harikrishnan Vasanthakumar (14 April 1950 – 28 August 2020) was an INC member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2011 and from 2016 to 2019, and a Lok Sabha MP from 2019 to 2020.
Biography[]
Harikrishnan Vasanthakumar was born in Agastheeswaram, Tamil Nadu, India on 14 April 1950, the brother of Kumari Ananthan. He started his career as a salesman in the 1970s, founding Vasanth & Co. in 1978 and pioneering sales of consumer electronics goods on equated monthly installments; he later founded the Tamil-language Vasanth TV in 2008. He entered politics in 2006 as an Indian National Congress member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, representing Nanguneri from 2006 to 2011 and from 2016 to 2019. He later served in the Lok Sabha from 2019 until his death in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
