Guanajuato is a state of north-central Mexico, with Guanajuato serving as its capital; Leon is the largest city in the state. The state borders San Luis Potosi to the north, Queretaro to the east, and Michoacan to the south, and it has an arid north and a lush south. In 2015, Guanajuato had a population of 5,853,677 people.
