Grim was a Hylrborger Danish lord and the founder of Grimsby, Lincolnshire during the late 9th century AD.
Biography[]
Grim was born in Denmark, and he later emigrated to England with the Great Heathen Army and settled in Lincolnshire, becoming the founder of the fishing village of Grimsby. He became one of the lords of the shire, going hunting with thegn Aelfgar of Gainsborough and Eivor at Aelfgarstun in 875 AD and later attending the shiremoot. There, he decided to vote for Bishop Herefrith of Lincoln to be the new Ealdorman, as, despite his friendship with Aelfgar, Grim saw Herefrith as the most experienced and sensible candidate.
