Gregory Whitechapel (1687-October 1722) was an officer of the British Royal Navy and captain of frigate HMS Diamond.
Biography[]
Gregory Whitechapel commanded British frigate HMS Diamond off the south coast of Jamaica in the Caribbean in October 1722, transporting wood and sugar to other British colonies for profit. However, his frigate was boarded by pirates from Captain Edward Kenway's ship "Jackdaw" and Whitechapel was stabbed through the neck with hidden blades. His crew was forced to surrender, and the "Jackdaw" salvaged HMS Diamond for repairs.
