The Green Berets, formally the US Army Special Forces, is a special forces unit of the United States that was founded on 19 June 1952. With 7,000 active personnel, the Green Berets have classified operational techniques, and they are responsible for five areas: unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, special reconnaissance, direct action, and counter-terrorism. They were active in the Cold War, Vietnam War, Salvadoran Civil War, Operation Urgent Fury, Operation Just Cause, Gulf War, Somali Civil War, Operation Uphold Democracy, Kosovo War, Afghanistan War, Iraq War, War in North-West Pakistan, and the Syrian Civil War.
