IBDA-C

The Great Eastern Islamic Raiders' Front (IBDA-C) is an Islamic militant group in Turkey formed in 1970 by Salih Mirzabeyoglu with the goal of re-establishing the Sunni caliphate in the Middle East as a federate state. The IBDA-C was hostile to Christian, Jewish, Shia, and Alevi interests, and in November 2003 it was believed that they worked together with al-Qaeda when two suicide truck bombers attacked synagogues in Istanbul. Days later, they also bombed the United Kingdom consulate and a British-based bank, killing 57 and wounding 700 people. The attacks showed the skills taught in Osama bin Laden's training camps, and that al-Qaeda was spreading its tentacles to new countries.
