Cleveland "Gramps" Callaway (1798-1864) was an American "Fire-Eater" of the Antebellum South. Born in Hinesville, Georgia, he worked as a farmer, and he became involved in Democratic politics as a stump speaker. During the leadup to the American Civil War, he gave speeches in support of secession, but he was too sickly to serve as a delegate to the secession convention. He died in 1864.
