The Government of Change was a political coalition in Italy that was founded on 18 May 2018 by the Five Star Movement and Lega Nord. The coalition was united in its opposition to immigration and membership in the European Union, as well as in its populism, and it was supported by the Associative Movement Italians Abroad, while the Brothers of Italy decided to support the government on a case-by-case basis. In August 2019, the government fell apart over disputes between Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and Matteo Salvini, who introduced a vote of no-confidence against Conte on 9 August. On 20 August, Conte resigned as Prime Minister, but, on 29 August 2019, President Sergio Mattarella invited Conte to form a new coalition government with the Democratic Party of Italy.
