
Gouverneur Kemble (25 January 1786-18 September 1875) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-NY 4) from 4 March 1837 to 3 March 1841, interrupting Aaron Ward's terms.
Biography[]
Gouverneur Kemble was born in New York City, New York in 1786, and he served as a US Navy agent during the Second Barbary War before serving as the US consul at Cadiz in Spain. Upon returning home, he founded the West Point Foundry Association in 1817 to produce artillery pieces for the United States Government. He also served in the US House of Representatives from 1837 to 1841, and he supported the Hudson River Railroad and Panama Railroad. He died in 1875.
