
The Gordon Highlanders was a British Army line infantry regiment which was active from 1881 to 1994. It was formed as the amalgamation of the 75th (Stirlingshire) Regiment of Foot and the 92nd (Gordon Highlanders) Regiment of Foot, and its men were drawn from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, and Shetland. The Gordon Highlanders served in the Anglo-Egyptian War, the Mahdist War, the British conquest of India, the Second Boer War, World War I, World War II, the Malayan Emergency, the Cyprus Emergency, and The Troubles before merging into the Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons, and Camerons) in 1994.
