The Gorani Marble Quarry was a marble quarry located near Goranoi, Laconia, Greece during the Classical era. Situated at the foot of Mount Taygetos in the Taygetus mountain range, the quarry served as a base for the mutinous Spartan general Nautios Echelaosides, who, in 429 BC, attempted to stir up a helot rebellion before he was assassinated by the mercenary Kassandra on the orders of Brasidas.
