Gonzalo Duran

Gonzalo Duran (9 September 1968-) was the Socialist Party of Chile Mayor of Independencia from 6 December 2012, succeeding Antonio Garrido Mardones.

Biography[]

Gonzalo Andres Duran Baronti was born in Santiago, Chile in 1968, and he was raised in Nunoa, where he became involved in the student movement against Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship. He later moved to Independencia, where he served as head of community organizations before serving as a councillor from 1996 to 2004. In 2012, he was elected Mayor, and he left the Socialist Party of Chile to join the democratic socialist Unir Movement in 2020.
