Gongsun Yuan

Gongsun Yuan (?-238) was the son of Gongsun Kang.

Biography[]

Gongsun Yuan stole the position of Prefect of Liaodong from his uncle, Gongsun Gong. While serving Wei, he collaborated in secret with Wu. He was dissatisfied with his position within Wei and started a rebellion, despite the admonitions of his advisers. He combined the regions of Daifang and Lelang to form the Kingdom of Yan, declaring himself the King of Yan. Suffering a devastating defeat at Xiangping to Wei forces led by Sima Yi, he was executed along with his son, Gongsun Xiu.
