Golkar is a conservative political party in Indonesia, founded on 20 October 1964. The party was the ruling party from 1973 to 1999 under Suharto's regime, and it was also a part of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's ruling coalition after 2004. The party sought to make Indonesia a developed country by 2045, the centenary of Indonesian independence, through strengthening the power of the central government, equalizing incomes, economic development, and other projects. In 2017, it held 90/560 DPR seats.
