Goldsmith Whitehouse Hewitt (14 February 1834-27 May 1895) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-AL 6) from 4 March 1875 to 3 March 1879 (succeeding Joseph Humphrey Sloss and preceding Burwell Boykin Lewis) and from 4 March 1881 to 3 March 1885 (succeeding Newton Nash Clements and preceding John Mason Martin).

Biography[]

Goldsmith Whitehouse Hewitt was born in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama in 1834, and he served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. He became a lawyer in 1866, served in the State House from 1870 to 1871, in the State Senate from 1872 to 1874, in the US House of Representatives from 1875 to 1879 and from 1881 to 1885, and in the State House from 1886 to 1888. He died in Birmingham in 1895.
