The Golani Brigade is a brigade of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that was formed in 1948 in the aftermath of the Arab-Israeli War. The brigade is one of the highest-decorated units of the Israeli military, as it fought in all of Israel's major wars and in several counter-terrorist operations, including the reprisal raids of the 1950s and the raids on Southern Lebanon during the 1960s and 1970s. The brigade has been known to be first on the scene at the front line in many situations, being insubordinate.
