Goh Hamazaki (1959-2010) was a Japanese yakuza who was Patriarch of the Hamazaki-gumi subsidiary of the Tojo-kai from 2006 to 2009.
Biography[]
Goh Hamazaki was born in Yokohama, Japan in 1959, and he became a member of the Tojo-kai yakuza clan of Kanto. Hamazaki was infamously cruel, sadistic, and xenophobic, expressing anti-Chinese sentiment during his dealings with Chinese business owners in Yokohama. In 2006, he became patriarch of the new Hamazaki-gumi, which was formed in the aftermath of the 2006 Tojo-Omi war, with just ten men on its membership rolls. In spite of his disdain for Chinese immigration, Hamazaki formed a partnership with the Snake Flower Triad in Yokohama, promising them the creation of a secret casino on Okinawa (and promising Lau Ka Long vengeance against his archenemy Kazuma Kiryu) in exchange for their help in making the Hamazaki-gumi the masters of Yokohama.
In 2009, as the Tojo-kai was delved into civil war following the assassination attempt on Chairman Daigo Dojima, Hamazaki attempted to seize the chairmanship with the help of fellow lieutenant Goro Majima. He was suspected of being behind the assassination of clan captain Osamu Kashiwagi as a means of securing the chairmanship for himself, but Lau Ka Long's (supposed) death during a failed invasion of Kabukicho led to the mainland Chinese branch of the Snake Flower Triad massacring Hamazaki's now-useless family as punishment for their failure. Hamazaki was forced to go into hiding as a result, but he resurfaced following Yoshitaka Mine's death, approaching Kiryu on the streets of Kabukicho and blaming him for making him a pariah. Kiryu convinced Hamazaki to start anew and offered a handshake, but Hamazaki, determined to die rather than live in personal shame, stabbed Kiryu before being pinned to the ground by Hiroshi Kazuki and Yuya Miyake.
Hamazaki was imprisoned at Okinawa Penitentiary No. 2, where he met Taiga Saejima after his transfer there in 2010. Hamazaki recruited Saejima into an escape attempt, and he stole important police documents pertaining to the Tojo Clan in the process. He was shot several times by a prison guard before he and Saejima could escape, so Hamazaki grabbed Saito and hurled himself and Saito into the sea. Hamazaki and Saejima would both survive jumping into the ocean, with Hamazaki arriving at Morning Glory Orphanage not long after Saejima had left from there. Kiryu gave Hamazaki medical aid and forgave him for all of his crimes, but a repentant Hamazaki was still distrusted by Kiryu's ward Haruka Sawamura, who had witnessed his stabbing of Kiryu. Kiryu persuaded Hamazaki to turn himself in to the police, but, along the way, he helped Kiryu and Yasuko Saejima escape the police at the abandoned Tamashiro-gumi office before succumbing to his gunshot wounds, dying a hero.
