Gofraid mac Sitriuc

Gofraid mac Sitriuc (915-951) was King of Dyflin from 948 to 951, succeeding Blacaire mac Gofrith and preceding Amlaib Cuaran.

Biography[]

Gofraid mac Sitriuc was born in 915, the son of Sitriuc mac Imair. He became King of Dyflin after his cousin Blacaire mac Gofrith died in battle with the Irish in 948, and Gofraid himself would suffer a heavy defeat at Moin Brocain in 950; however, Gofraid's rival Ruaidri ua Canannain was slain in the same engagement. In 951, Gofraid died of leprosy shortly after sacking the Kells, and Amlaib Cuaran returned as King of Dyflin.
