Gnaeus Cilnius Hirrus

Gnaeus Cilnius Hirrus (69-42 BC) was a Roman soldier who served in Legio XXXVI during Caesar's Civil War and the Liberators' Civil War. He and the other soldiers from his legion who were captured while fighting for the Pompeian cause at the Battle of Pharsalus in 48 BC were enrolled into Julius Caesar's army as part of Legio XXXVI, but that legion went over to Caesar's killers Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus following the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC. In 42 BC, he and his fellow legionaries were slain in battle with Caesar's heir Octavian at the Battle of Philippi in Greece.
