
Glycerius Silvanus (401-430) was a general of the Western Roman Empire.
Biography[]
Silvanus was the younger brother of Orestes Silvanus, six years his senior, and he was a Christian. However, he was an expert on natural philosophy and fond of Ribald Rhymes, and was a learned man. He became the Caesar of the Western Roman Empire after the death of Emperor Arbogastes Maesa in 402 AD in Rome, and he became the Governor of Syracuse alongside his brother.
Glycerius was besieged alongside his father in Syracuse in winter of 430 AD, and the two were killed in the Eastern Roman Empire's assault on the city.
