Glenni William Scofield

Glenni William Scofield (11 March 1817-30 August 1891) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-PA 19) from 4 March 1863 to 3 March 1873 (succeeding John Covode and preceding Carlton Brandaga Curtis) and from the at-large district from 4 March 1873 to 3 March 1875.

Biography[]

Glenni William Scofield born in Dewittville, Chautauqua County, New York in 1817, and he practiced law in Warren, Pennsylvania from 1842 to 1846. He served as Warren County district attorney from 1846 and 1848, in the State House from 1849 to 1851, in the State Senate from 1857 to 1858 and from 1859 to 1860, as a common pleas judge from 1861 to 1863, and in the US House of Representatives from 1863 to 1875. Originally an anti-slavery Democrat, he became a Republican in 1856. He later served as Register of the Treasury from 1878 to 1881 and as a Court of Claims judge from 1881 to 1891, and he died in 1891.
