Glendalough

Glendalough is a valley in County Wicklow, Ireland. Known to the Gaels as Gleann Dá Loch, it was the site of a Christian monastery established in the 7th century AD, and it was the site of several raids. In 1214, the dioceses of Glendalough and Dublin were united. The settlement of Glendalough was destroyed by the English in 1398, but the church's ruins continued to be a place of pilgrimage.
