Glaucus of Lycia

Glaucus of Lycia (died 1183 BC) was a captain of the Lycian army during the Trojan War.

Biography[]

Glaucus was born in Lycia, the son of Hippolokhos and the grandson of Bellerophon. During the Trojan War, his close friend and cousin Sarpedon sent him to aid his ally, the Trojan king Priam, against the besieging Greek army. During the war, he spared Diomedes due to the friendship between Glaucus' grandfather Bellerophon and Diomedes' grandfather Oeneus, and he even gave Diomedes his golden armor. He rescued Sarpedon's body after he was slain in battle, but, during the fight for Achilles' corpse, Glaucus was slain by Ajax.
