Glauce (died 1236 BC) was a princess of Corinth and the daughter of King Creon of Corinth. In 1236 BC, she was betrothed to Jason, leading to Jason's wife Medea killing Glauce with a poisoned robe; Creon died while attempting to save his daughter.
Biography[]
Glauce was the younger daughter of King Creon of Corinth, and, in 1236 BC, Creon gave Jason his blessing to marry his daughter. Jason abandoned his first wife, Medea, in favor of Glauce, leading to Medea plotting a terrible revenge. Medea had her sons Tisander and Alcimenes present Glauce with poisoned robes, claiming that they were wedding gifts. As Glauce's attendants dressed her in the robes, Glauce began to yell in pain as the robes began to burn, and a burning Glauce ran outside as the cloak became engulfed in flames. As Glauce burned to death, her father attempted to put out the flames, but he caught on fire as well, leaving both of them dead.
