Giuseppe Assemani (died 1702) was a general of the Republic of Venice.
Biography[]
Assemani was born in Venice, but was made a general and sent to the Province of Morea in the Peleponnese region of southern Greece, where he was in charge of the garrison of the city of Patras. In 1702 he had to face a large Ottoman army with a small force of Greek militia and Venetian pikemen, and was crushingly defeated. He was killed when Patras fell to the Turks.
