Giovanna Ferra

Giovanna Ferra was the wife of the Sicilian bandit Salvatore Giuliano. The sister of PCI activist Silvio Ferra, she met Giuliano due to his involvement in her brother's land reform movement, and they married in 1947. Their marriage was strained by Giuliano's increasingly violent behavior, including his murder of the barber Signor Frisella and the priest Giuseppe Doldana, and the Portella della Ginestra massacre, during which her brother was killed. She ultimately escaped to New York City via Tunis with the help of Don Croce Malo and Don Vito Corleone, but Giuliano was murdered before he could join her.
