Gill Tatum (1797-1881) was an American US Marshal who served the town of Daughtrey during the 1850s. In 1858, he attempted to arrest the bounty hunter King Schultz and his slave Django Freeman after Shultz shot and killed Sheriff Bill Sharp in broad daylight. However, Schultz revealed that Sharp was an impostor, and that his real name was "Willard Peck", a wanted outlaw whom Schultz had a warrant to kill. After Schultz convinced Tatum of Sharp's true identity, he had Tatum pay him $200 for his bounty.
