Giles Murtogg was a British soldier and pirate who was active during the Golden Age of Piracy. Originally a soldier in the Royal Marines, and stationed in Port Royal, Jamaica, he and his comrade Angus Mullroy later served under British East India Company agent Cutler Beckett before defecting to the crew of the pirate ship Black Pearl in 1729. They went on to serve under Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hector Barbossa for decades, becoming Barbossa's right-hand men by 1751.
