Gil Benisch

Gil Benisch (3 June 1897-4 April 1920) was a Bolshevik revolutionary during the early 20th century.

Biography[]

Gil Benisch was born on 3 June 1897 in Bialystok, Congress Poland, Russian Empire to a family of Polish Jews. Benisch was drafted into the Imperial Russian Army in 1915 during World War I, and Benisch would be wounded during the war with Austria-Hungary. Benisch joined the Bolsheviks after the Russian Revolution of 1917, becoming a member of a council of soldiers attached to the 338th Rifle Division. Benisch therefore was one of the representatives of the division to the Bolshevik party, and he had a small administrative position. Benisch was killed in action during the war with the White Army in the Baltics in 1920.
