Ghost Recon

The Group for Specialized Tactics (GST), also called Ghost Recon or the Ghosts, is a highly-classified unit operating under the US Army's Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). The unit was established in 1994 as Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, and, while it was billed as a company-sized reconnaissance unit, it served as the Army's crème of the crop Special Mission Unit and specialized in clandestine operations within denied or politically-sensitive territory with little to no support. The Ghosts selected proven members of the United States Armed Forces and had recruits undergo rigorous psychological evaluations, and they were based from Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The group helped resolve a North Korean crisis in 2007 and fought in the Russo-Georgian War of 2008, the War in North-West Pakistan, the Second Eritrean-Ethiopian War in 2009, the 2010 Cuban uprising, the MFLC insurgency in Colombia, the 2011 North Korean crisis, the Kazakhstan conflict of 2012 (after which Ghost Recon's existence was revealed to the public in a Military Channel documentary), Operation War Wraith in China in 2012, the 2013 Mexican crisis, the Afghanistan War, Operation Kingslayer in Bolivia in 2019, the Sri Lankan conflict of 2020, the War on Terror, and the fight against Russian ultranationalism.
