Gholam Ali Rashid

Gholam Ali Rashid (1953-) was a Major-General of Iran who served as one of the commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' command network, and served as one of the decision-making commanders during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s.

Biography[]

Gholam Ali Rashid was born in 1953 in Dezful, Khuzestan, Iran, and he joined the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps on 1980 at the start of the Iran-Iraq War. A veteran commander of the IRGC, he would be one of the decision-making IRGC commanders during the war, and he was eventually promoted to Major-General and deputy Chief-of-Staff of the Iranian armed forces. Rashid, Mohammad Ali Jafari, Mohammad Bagheri, and Ali Fadavi were considered to be the heads of the IRGC command network, and Rashid was known for his confident speeches in which he stated that United States military action against Iran would be a strategic mistake and that all people who had a problem with Iran had a problem with Islam, and he boasted that Iran could attack Israeli military and nuclear sites in the case of war.
