
German Zea Hernandez (15 April 1905-8 February 1989) was Mayor of Bogota from October 1938 to April 1940 (succeeding Gustavo Santos Montejo and preceding Antonio Gomez Restrepo) and Governor of Cundinamarca from 8 November 1943 to 23 March 1944 (succeeding Agustin Aljure and preceding Parmenio Cardenas).
Biography[]
German Zea Hernandez was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1905, and he worked as a lawyer before serving as a city ombudsman, government secretary, and as Mayor of Bogota from 1938 to 1940. He also served as Governor of Cundinamarca from 1943 to 1944, and President Alberto Lleras Camargol appointed him Minister of Justice in 1958. He remained in office until 1960, and he served as Ambassador to the United Nations from 1961 to 1965 and 1975 to 1977. Under President Julio Cesar Turbay, Zea served as Minister of Government from 1978 to 1981. Zea died in 1989.
