The 334th Infantry Division was a German Heer infantry division that was active from November 1942 to May 1945 during World War II. The division's regiments were drawn up from the Nuremberg military district in Germany and the Vienna and Salzburg districts in Austria, and it was immediately dispatched to Tunisia by January 1943. The 334th Infantry Division, together with the 10th Panzer Division and the Division von Manteuffel, defended Tunis from the Allies during the run for Tunis in early 1943 before suffering heavy losses amid heavy fighting from February to March. The division surrendered to Allied forces at Beja on 8 May 1943, a few days before the fall of Tunis. The division was reorganized in Bordeaux in June 1943 from the Nuremberg military district, and it was deployed to Italy before fighting in the Battle of Monte Cassino and surrendering to the US 5th Army in the Dolomites in April 1945.
