The German 2nd Army was an army of the German Wehrmacht which existed from 1939 to 1945. The army was activated on 20 October 1939, and it was later involved in the war in the Balkans (invading Yugoslavia from Hungary) and in Operation Barbarossa in the Soviet Union. The army suffered a heavy defeat during the campaign in southern Russia, and the army would be attached to the army in East Prussia by the end of the war in 1945. On 9 May 1945, Dietrich von Saucken surrendered the 2nd Army to the Red Army.
