The 20th Mountain Army, also known as the Lapland Army, was an army headquarters of the German Wehrmacht that existed from 14 January 1942 to 8 May 1945. The army was led by Eduard Dietl from 1942 until his 23 June 1944 death in an airplane crash, and the army was stationed in the Lapland region of northern Finland, helping in garrisoning both Norway and Finland during World War II. From June 1944 to January 1945, Lothar Rendulic was in command of the army, fighting against the Finnish Army during short Lapland War, and Franz Boehme was the last commander of the army. On 8 May 1945, his army surrendered to the Allies at the end of the war.
