Gerardo Murillo (1937-1985) was a Colombian-American forger, considered one of the best on the West Coast. He received his green card and moved to Los Angeles when he was a young man, and was forced into criminal activities to make ends meet. Murillo held a disdain for authority, always carrying a snub nose S&W Model 60 on his person.
In 1985, he met with David Sully, a frequent customer and mercenary, in a bar at the Sherman Oaks Galleria to make a deal involving Val Verdian identification papers. It worked perfectly, with Murillo receiving the money and giving the papers to Sully, allowing the mercenary to work with Alejandro Arius in a larger capacity. Sully began talking about the bar formerly being known as a great place for one-night stands, before dismissing himself after seeing Cindy Jenkins, a flight attendant he flirted with at the Los Angeles International Airport.
After Matrix and the guards began brawling, Murillo attempted to evacuate the Galleria, afraid of him being caught. He immediately ran out of the bar, Model 60 in hand, before being told to freeze by LAPD policemen Marcus Wilson and Jacob Wrobel. Murillo fired a shot into Wilson, killing him, before Wrobel fired one into Murillo in turn. Murillo accidentally threw the money over the edge as he was shot, and Murillo fruitlessly attempted to grab the money in his dying moments, going over the edge of the Galleria theater level's balcony and assuring his death.
