The Gepids were a confederation of Baltic tribespeople closely related to the Goths. Their capital was Domus Dulcis Domus (Home Sweet Home) in Tribus Gepidae in the Baltic region during the Roman Republic period. The Gepids were conquered by Germania in the 100s BC but rose up with the emigration of the Germans westwards due to the Huns' invasion of Russia, and were able to defeat the Huns at the Battle of Nedao in a coalition among other Germanic tribes. During the sixth century, the Lombards conquered the Gepid kingdom in Pannonia, and their remnants were conquered by the Avars.
