Georgios I of Makuria (835-866) was the king of Makuria from 859 to 866, succeeding Zakharias II of Makuria and preceding Zakharias III of Makuria.
Biography[]
Georgios was born in 835 to the House of Azim, a Miaphysite Christian dynasty of Nubians. He succeeded his father King Zakharias II of Makuria as the king of Makuria on his death in 859, and he reigned as king for seven years. He was succeeded by Zakharias III of Makuria.
