George Wilson was an Anglo-Irish lawyer who, in 1916, was conscripted by the British Army to help William Wylie lead the prosecution of the defeated Irish Volunteers and Irish Citizen Army rebels in the aftermath of the Easter Rising. He was friends with Harry Butler and was the boyfriend of Ingrid Webster, who joined the rebels as a medic during the uprising. His role in the secretive and unfair trials destroyed his reputation, with most of his clients abandoning him. He then decided to return to Belfast to help his father with his factory there, but Ingird decided not to go with him.
