George Welshman Owens (29 August 1786-2 March 1856) was the Democratic Mayor of Savannah from 1832 to 1833 (succeeding Will Waring and preceding William Thorne William) and a member of the US House of Representatives (D-GA AL) from 4 March 1835 to 3 March 1839 (succeeding Roger Lawson Gamble and preceding Hopkins Holsey.

Biography[]

George Welshman Owens was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1786, and he was educated in London and Cambridge before becoming a lawyer. He served as Mayor of Savannah from 1832 to 1833 and in the US House of Representatives from 1835 to 1839, and he died in 1856.
