
George Van Eman Lawrence (13 November 1818-2 October 1904) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-PA 24) from 4 March 1865 to 3 March 1869 (succeeding Jesse Lazear and preceding Joseph Benton Donley) and from 4 March 1883 to 3 March 1885 (succeeding William Shadrack Shallenberger and preceding Oscar Lawrence Jackson).
Biography[]
George Van Eman Lawrence was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania in 1818, the son of Joseph Lawrence, and he was a farmer before entering politics as a Whig. He served in the State House in 1844, 1847, 1858, and 1859, in the State Senate from 1849 to 1851 and from 1861 to 1863, in the US House of Representatives from 1865 to 1869 and from 1883 to 1885, and in the State House from 1893 to 1896, and he died in 1904.
