George Salmon

George Salmon (25 September 1819-22 January 1904) was an Anglo-Irish mathematician and Anglican theologian.

Biography[]

George Salmon was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1819, and he was raised in Cork City before graduating from Trinity College Dublin in 1839 and becoming a paid fellow and teacher of mathematics there at the age of 21. He became a Church of England priest in 1845 and taught theology for the rest of his career, while also lecturing in mathematics from 1858 to 1867. Salmon served as Trinity College's provost from 1888 until his death in 1904.
