
George Plater (8 November 1735 – 10 February 1792) was the Federalist Governor of Maryland from 14 November 1791 to 10 February 1792, succeeding John Eager Howard and preceding James Brice.
Biography[]
George Plater was born in Leonardtown, Maryland in 1735, and he practiced law before serving in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1757 to 1766, as a member of the Continental Congress from 1778 to 1780, in the State Senate from 1777 to 1790, and as Governor of Maryland from 1791 until his death in 1792.
