George Edward Lounsbury (7 May 1838-16 August 1904) was the Republican Governor of Connecticut from 4 January 1899 to 9 January 1901, succeeding Lorrin A. Cooke and preceding George P. McLean.
Biography[]
George Edward Lounsbury was born in Pound Ridge, New York in 1838, the brother of Phineas C. Lounsbury. He and his brother partnered to manufacture shoes in Ridgefield, Connecticut, and he served in the State Senate from 1894 to 1898 and as Governor from 1899 to 1901. He died in 1904.
