George Butler (died August 1883) was an American traveling salesman who lived in Tombstone, Arizona during the Wild West era. In August 1883, he was mistaken for the wanted outlaw Al Cokely by the aspiring lawman Jake Hoyt, who attempted to halt him as he exited a stagecoach in town. Butler turned away, leading to Hoyt shooting him three times in the back and killing him. Hoyt would later be arrested by Sheriff Clay Hollister on murder charges after Hoyt unsuccessfully attempted to kill Hollister as well.
