George A. Bicknell

George Augustus Bicknell (6 February 1815-11 April 1891) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-IN 3) from 4 March 1877 to 3 March 1881, succeeding Nathan T. Carr and preceding Strother M. Stockslager.

Biography[]

George Augustus Bicknell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1815, and he practiced law in New York City and Lexington, Indiana. He served as Scott County prosecuting attorney before moving to New Albany in 1851 and serving as a circuit court judge from 1852 to 1876, in the US House of Representatives from 1877 to 1881, on the state supreme court from 1881 to 1885, and as a circuit court judge from 1889 until his death in 1891.
