Genobaud (351-) was a Frankish nobleman and dux who led an invasion of the Western Roman Empire in 388 AD.

Biography[]

Genobaud was born to a noble Frankish family, and, in 388 AD, Genobaud, Sunno, and Marcomer led a Germanic invasion across the Rhine and into the Western Roman Empire. He invaded Germania Inferior and Gallia Belgica, ravaging the countryside and massacring the locals before retreating back across the Rhine with his plunder. He later defeated a Roman counterattack into Germania. In 395 AD, Genobaud commanded a Frankish army during another invasion of Gaul, capturing the Roman city of Colonia Agrippina (Cologne) with the help of King Faramund and garrisoning Gallia Belgica.
