Generation X (born 1961-81) are, according to Strauss-Howe generational theory, a Nomadic generation. Many of them grew up underprotected as "latchkey kids", and as teenagers they popularized hardcore forms of entertainment, including violent horror movies as well as rap and heavy metal music. Their naughty clothing styles often reflected the music they listened to. Their ideological persuasions were also more radical than other generations', as many of them flirted with anarchism, Satanism or neo-Nazism. Later in life they became more conservative and often raise their children in an overprotective way. In pop-culture they are known for a practical and even cynical attitude.
Many technology enterpreneurs like Elon Musk and national-populist leaders like Nigel Farage and Viktor Orban belong to this generation. However, so do tough anti-authoritarians such as Alexei Navalny.
