Gelugpa

Gelugpa is the newest school of Tibetan Buddhism, founded in the 15th century by Je Tsongkapa. Gelugpa is the faith of the Dalai Lama, and it is a major belief in Tibet and Mongolia, being separate from both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism. Gelugpa emphasizes the cultivation of in-depth insight into emptiness as well as fundamental spiritual orientation and universal compassion, believing that everyone should be treated compassionately.
