The Gaza Strip is a small strip of land between Egypt and Israel that Palestine claims is one of their sovereign territories. The Gaza Strip is named for its capital of Gaza, and the strip has a small population of 1,850,000, most of which are Muslim Palestinians (many of whom are forced into refugee camps like Jabaliya). The Gaza Strip is controlled by Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip in the same manner as the Taliban, with religious police enforcing sharia law and carrying out terrorist attacks against Israel. Because of the high amount of terrorism, it has frequently been bombed by the Israeli Air Force since 2008.
